Youth Conservation Corps Program
Town of Bernalillo
Program Purpose:
To teach marketable vocational skills and life skills to our youth
through the restoration of historic adobe properties.
Program Details:
- Established November, 2006
- Funded by New Mexico Youth Conservation Corp
- 2006: $117,000.00
- 2008: $142,000.00
- Funded by the Town of Bernalillo
- $155,000.00 (to date)
- Funded by Sandoval County $17,000.00
- Twenty-Eight Unemployed Youth hired through the course of the project (thirteen currently employed on the project)
- Ages fourteen to twenty-five (under 16 require a work permit)
Projects:
- Restore a 1920’s terrone barn on the Lorretto Park Complex to house the New Mexico Wine Museum at Bernalillo.
- L.B. Putney Molino circa 1920’s to support TOD. The LB Putney Mill is near the Downtown Rail Runner Station. It is owned by the Town of Bernalillo
